President Luis Abinader launches 911 service in Montecristi and inaugurates several road projects

President Luis Abinader inaugurated the National 911 Emergency and Security System in Montecristi on 4 July 2026, extending the service to the province’s 157,589 residents and raising national coverage to 27 provinces, or 94.64 % of the Dominican population (more than 9.6 million people). He urged responsible use of the free emergency line.

On the same day he opened the new road segment Cruce La Lana–Manuel Bueno–El Aguacate, a 10‑km stretch linking Dajabón and Santiago Rodríguez. The project, financed with more than RD$670 million, includes four major bridges and will be extended toward Loma de Cabrera.

Later, Abinader also inaugurated the first phase of the Cruce Los Quemados road in Santiago Rodríguez, a 11.2‑km rehabilitation costing RD$199 million that improves access for several rural communities. Additional works include a new UASD campus in Sabaneta, a softball field in Villa Los Almácigos and a meeting with livestock sector representatives.

These events are part of a broader agenda of infrastructure and public‑service improvements in the Dominican Republic’s north‑west region.
