PRM seeks consensus on new leadership amid internal elections

Former president Hipólito Mejía defended the internal consensus within the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) for choosing its next secretary general, endorsing Juan Garrigó as a leading candidate. Party officials, including subsecretary general Kelvin Cruz and David Collado’s team, emphasized the need for maturity, neutrality and agreement among factions as the PRM approaches the final stage of its internal elections for new authorities, scheduled for a convention in the coming years.

The party also highlighted other potential leaders such as Gloria Reyes, proposed for a senior role, and Dr. Geanilda Vásquez, who called for a balanced and impartial process to preserve unity. All participants stressed that a consensual approach is intended to avoid internal conflict and to sustain the PRM’s hold on power beyond 2028.
