Dominican PRM prepares new leadership in August internal elections

The Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) has been holding a series of internal assemblies across the Dominican Republic as part of its XXIV Convención Nacional Ordinaria. In 379 party organizations—including 152 municipalities, 224 municipal districts and the three National District constituencies—participation reached 95 percent, with new local leadership approved for the 2026‑2028 period. The party’s internal election commission, headed by Deligne Ascención, called the process “successful” and highlighted the harmony and organization displayed by delegates.

The convention will culminate on 9 August when PRM members will elect a new national president, secretary‑general, vice‑presidents and sub‑secretaries. Subsequent meetings on 1‑2 August will choose sectoral front directives, and from 11‑15 August the overseas sections will hold their own assemblies. The final plenary is scheduled for 5 September to ratify the elected bodies and swear in the new authorities.

In parallel, the party has been strengthening its communication capacity. On a recent training session in La Vega, provincial PRM president Agustín Burgos and national communications adviser Ely Encarnación taught activists how to act as “multipliers” of the government’s message, emphasizing accurate information and countering disinformation. These activities are presented as part of PRM’s broader effort to consolidate its structure and prepare for upcoming national political contests.
