Dominican PROMIPYME records record RD$11.8 bn credit portfolio
The board of PROMIPYME met on 10 July in Santo Domingo to present financial results for the period covering 2024 through June 2026. The institution’s credit portfolio grew from RD$8.61 billion in January 2024 to RD$11.846 billion by June 2026, a 37.6 % increase, while total disbursements reached RD$19.832 billion.
Portfolio quality improved, with recoveries in 2025 reaching RD$6.573 billion and the share of loans overdue more than 30 days falling from 16.6 % to 11.0 %. An infusion of RD$1.5 billion received in November 2025 was allocated entirely to new credit, supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MIPYMES). The board also proposed a simplified “monotributo” tax scheme to reduce informality among MIPYMES, integrating income tax, VAT and social security payments.
PROMIPYME’s growth was achieved without increasing its annual budget allocation, relying on higher operational efficiency, risk‑management improvements and internal resource generation.
