Medical specialists at Clínica Abreu in the Dominican Republic have performed the country’s first high-grade scoliosis surgery assisted by O-arm navigation technology. Led by spinal specialist Dr. Carlos Rodríguez, the procedure utilized the StealthStation S8 navigation platform to integrate real-time intraoperative imaging with surgical instruments, allowing for increased precision in treating complex spinal deformities.
In a separate development within the local healthcare sector, Surgical Solutions International announced an expansion of its medical product portfolio in the Dominican Republic. CEO José Álvarez stated that the company aims to better support health professionals and institutions by increasing the availability of supplies, including wound management, compression, nutrition, and personal protective equipment, subject to local regulatory approvals.
