Dominican Republic and Spain launch major water infrastructure projects

The Santo Domingo water authority, CAASD, began a multi‑phase program to overhaul sanitary drainage and improve water supply in the northern districts of the capital, including Villas Agrícolas, Villa Juana, Villa Francisca and San Carlos. The initiative, part of the "La CAASD te Escucha" plan, involves more than RD$900 million, construction and rehabilitation of 11 small aqueducts, new wells, a cistern and pump station, and upgrades to several water tanks.

Separately, the regional government of Castilla‑La Mancha in Spain announced that the Manchega water‑pipeline branch serving the Tajo‑Segura system will be put into operation in September. The branch will deliver water to 13 municipalities in the province of Cuenca, activating infrastructure that has been built but unused for years. Officials said the project will secure reliable water quantity and quality for thousands of residents.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen water availability and sanitation for local populations through significant public investment.
