Dominican Republic and U.S. sign critical minerals agreement
The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United States Embassy have entered into an agreement to cooperate on the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth elements. These materials are identified as strategic for the production of advanced technologies and next-generation weaponry.
The agreement aims to facilitate the identification of projects of common interest between the two nations, establish financing mechanisms, and work toward the protection of their respective markets for these critical resources. The agreement was signed by Dominican Foreign Minister Víctor-Ito Bisonó and U.S. Ambassador Leah Francis Campos, with participation from the Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos Echavarría.
