Dominican Republic Army Reinforces Border Posts in Elías Piña

Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, commander of the Dominican Republic Army, conducted a tour of the border region in the provinces of El Ías Piña and Independencia. He inaugurated the renovated military posts of Guaroa, Aniceto Martínez and Pirámide 204 after a program of structural reinforcement, new flooring, upgraded electrical and sanitary systems, and improved living quarters for soldiers. The tour also included the opening of a new helipad at El Aguacate in the Sierra de Bahoruco to boost operational response and logistical support.

The ceremony at Guaroa was attended by provincial governor Migdaly de los Santos, Colonel Domingo Cruz Sosa and local officials. The upgrades are part of the army’s broader effort to modernize frontier installations, strengthen the nation’s sovereignty, and enhance security for communities along the Dominican‑Haitian border.
