Dominican Republic begins Yanuna luxury tourism project

Construction has officially commenced on the Yanuna mega-project at Playa Macao in the La Altagracia province of the Dominican Republic. The ambitious development represents a total investment exceeding 1 billion dollars across its various stages.

The first phase of the hotel and real estate complex will include 548 rooms distributed between The Ritz-Carlton Yanuna and Casa Mirallá, The Luxury Collection, both brands under the Marriott international group. The master plan also features high-end residences designed to attract high-net-worth travelers, with formal operations projected to begin in 2029.

Authorities expect the project to generate over 1,500 direct jobs during the construction phase and more than 1,600 permanent positions once operational. To protect local natural resources, the development will implement environmental protocols to safeguard dunes, mangroves, and sea turtle nesting sites.
