Dominican Republic boosts ITLA tech scholarships to 15,000

President Luis Abinader ordered the expansion of the Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) Continuing Education scholarship program from 9,000 to 15,000 slots, allocating more than RD 99 million. The increase adds 6,000 new beneficiaries and aims to meet high demand for technology training nationwide.

The scholarship call, open until 17 July 2026, covers over a hundred programs in areas such as artificial intelligence, software development, data science, cybersecurity, networking, mechatronics, digital marketing, project management and language studies. Courses will be delivered in-person, hybrid and virtual formats across ITLA campuses in Santo Domingo, Santiago, and several other provinces.

ITLA rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard said the president’s decision “democratizes access to education and brings development opportunities to all Dominicans,” emphasizing the role of the expanded program in strengthening the country’s digital workforce.
