Dominican Republic boxers target Lima 2027 qualification

Dominican Republic boxers are currently training in Mexico City to prepare for upcoming qualifying championships aimed at securing spots for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The team is focusing on the first qualifying tournament, scheduled to take place in Puebla, Mexico, from the 17th to the 25th of this month.

This preparation follows a highly successful performance at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, where the Dominican boxing squad earned seven gold medals and one bronze. Key athletes aiming for qualification include Estefany Almánzar, Yunior Alcántara, Disney Medina, Miguel Encarnación, Ricardo Cuello, Noel Pacheco, and Cristian Pinales. Coach Armando Hernández stated that the objective is to secure as many qualifying spots as possible for the Lima games.
