Dominican Republic budget allocates RD$4,000 million to JCE

The Dominican Republic's 2027 General State Budget project includes a specific allocation of RD$4,000 million for the Junta Central Electoral (JCE) to manage upcoming electoral processes. The total proposed budget for the JCE is RD$11,001.7 million, representing a 1.3% increase over the current amount.

In the broader budget submitted to the National Congress, the executive branch outlines total financial sources including new debt of RD$464,126 million. Current expenditures are projected at RD$1.58 trillion, with significant portions dedicated to current transfers, personnel remuneration, and public debt interest payments. Capital expenditures are estimated at RD$257,763.7 million.

Contextually, the state has allocated more than RD$20,600 million to the public financing of political parties between 2016 and 2026. This has raised discussions regarding the effectiveness of such investments in fostering informed citizenship and the development of concrete government programs for issues such as health, education, and security.
