Dominican Republic calls for stronger transnational fight against organized crime

During the XXXIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Ibero-American Association of Public Ministries (AIAMP) held in Peru, Dominican Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso called for strengthened regional cooperation and strategic transnational criminal prosecution to combat organized crime.

The Dominican Republic was unanimously selected to assume the Vice Presidency of AIAMP for North America and the Caribbean. Reynoso highlighted several initiatives aimed at optimizing the response to criminal structures, including the Ibero-American Manual of Criminal Prosecution Policy, a digital document management system with advanced electronic signatures, and a digital library to democratize legal knowledge.

Addressing crimes that transcend borders—such as money laundering, illegal mining, human trafficking, and cryptocurrency-related offenses—Reynoso proposed a Framework Agreement for Reinforced Cooperation to expand mutual assistance between Public Ministries. She also emphasized a human-centric approach, advocating for the effective judicial representation and empathetic treatment of victims within the criminal prosecution process.
