Dominican Republic Chamber of Accounts and OAS sign anti-bribery pact
The Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic (CCRD) and the Organization of American States (OAS) have signed a cooperation agreement in Washington, D.C., to strengthen transparency and anti-bribery mechanisms.
Signed by CCRD President Emma Polanco Melo and OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin, the agreement focuses on enhancing the institutional capacity of the Dominican Republic's external control body. The OAS will provide technical assistance to conduct an institutional diagnosis and train personnel on the ISO 37001 international standard for anti-bribery management systems. This standard is designed to help organizations prevent, detect, and respond to bribery risks.
Polanco Melo stated that the alliance is a key part of the institution's modernization process aimed at increasing public trust and elevating auditing standards. Additionally, during her visit to Washington, Polanco Melo met with representatives from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to explore further technical cooperation and exchange in auditing and oversight.
