Dominican Republic COD audit approved and legislators urged to enact new penal code

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) held an extraordinary general assembly in Santo Domingo where members approved the audited 2025 financial report. The report, prepared by Montero y Asociados, was presented by COD treasurer José Mera and received favorable opinions from the assembly, confirming that the committee's income and expenditures were structured under favorable conditions.

In a separate event, the coadjutor archbishop of Santo Domingo, Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, called on legislators to adopt the new Dominican Penal Code without delay, urging its entry into force on August 3. Speaking at a Mass commemorating the 150th anniversary of the death of national hero Juan Pablo Duarte, the archbishop emphasized that the new code would strengthen democracy, social peace, and fundamental rights.
