Dominican Republic commemorates 181st anniversary of Battle of Beller

The Dominican Republic marked the 181st anniversary of the Battle of Beller on October 27, 2026. The historical military engagement took place on October 27, 1845, at Cerro de Beller in the Dajabón province.

During the battle, Dominican troops led by Generals Francisco Antonio Salcedo and José María Imbert defeated Haitian forces attempting to reclaim territory and challenge the nation's independence. A key moment of the conflict involved the Dominican capture of ‘El Invencible’, a strategic Haitian fortification.

Commemorative ceremonies were held at the Battle of Beller Monument, involving the Presidency, the Ministry of Defense, and local authorities in Dajabón. The events included military honors, the raising of the national flag, and the laying of floral offerings to honor the soldiers who defended the country's sovereignty during its early years of independence.
