Dominican Republic commemorates 181st anniversary of Battle of La Estrelleta

Authorities and local officials in the Dominican Republic held a patriotic ceremony to commemorate the 181st anniversary of the Battle of La Estrelleta. The event took place in Matayaya, Las Matas de Farfán, marking the historical engagement that occurred on September 17, 1845.

The commemoration involved several institutions, including the Permanent Commission of Patriotic Anniversaries, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education, and the local governments of San Juan and Elías Piña. The ceremony included the raising of the national flag, military honors, and the laying of floral offerings to honor the heroes of the battle.

Eva Joselia Aybar Fortuna, the mayor of the Matayaya Municipal District, emphasized the importance of strengthening historical memory through such patriotic and educational activities. Military leadership, including Brigadier General Ángel Camacho Ubiera and Colonel Armando Montero Feliz, were present to lead the delegation of officers and personnel.
