Dominican Republic Constitutional Court announces international law congress

The Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic has announced the VI International Congress on Law and Constitutional Justice, scheduled to take place from September 21 to 23. The event will focus on the theme of ‘due process in criminal matters.’

Magistrate Manuel Ulises Bonnelly Vega, coordinator of the congress and the Center for Constitutional Studies (CEC), stated that the academic initiative aims to promote the exchange of knowledge regarding the protection of fundamental rights and the guarantees that support the justice system. The congress seeks to examine how constitutional dimensions impact the various actions within the justice system to strengthen the social and democratic rule of law.

The three-day event will bring together jurists, magistrates, and specialists from Argentina, Costa Rica, Spain, the United States, Germany, Peru, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. The program is designed for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, academics, law students, and justice system officials to discuss best practices and the challenges facing criminal due process.
