Dominican Republic court sentences seven in drug trafficking ring

A court in Santo Domingo has sentenced seven additional individuals linked to an international drug trafficking and money laundering network dismantled during ‘Operación Búfalo NK’. This brings the total number of convicted members in the case to 14 following plea agreements with the Public Ministry.

Isidoro Rotestán Clase received a seven-year prison sentence, including three and a half years of house arrest. Francisco Morrobel Pérez was sentenced to five years with a suspended sentence and a fine. Five other individuals—Cristino Rotestán Clase, Johnny Casimiro Tejada, Geyser C. Castillo Mordán, Luigui Aneudy Ureña Read, and Jomaiky Ureña Rotestán—received four-year suspended sentences and fines equivalent to 100 minimum wages.

The court also ordered the permanent closure of three companies involved in the criminal structure: Mariscos Del Caribe Clase S. R. L., Mojos S. R. L., and Elegant Records Productions E. I. R. L. The investigation into this transnational organization involved the seizure of 1,824 kilograms of drugs.
