Jean Alain Rodríguez case: New judges to preside over Medusa trial

The Second Collegiate Tribunal of the National District in the Dominican Republic is undergoing structural changes as it prepares for the trial of former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez and other defendants in the Medusa case. Following the promotion of Judge Claribel Nivar Arias, Judge Jissel Soto has taken over the presidency of the tribunal, joined by judges Clara Castillo and Jarolin Rosario.

Defense attorneys for Rodríguez have requested that 21 previously discussed legal incidents be debated again due to the change in the tribunal's composition. The prosecution, led by Mirna Ortiz, has opposed this request, arguing that the new judicial configuration can be addressed without revisiting settled incidents and that arguments can be made during the presentation of evidence.

The trial has yet to begin its substantive phase as the prosecution has not yet started reading the formal indictment. Previous delays were noted due to health issues regarding one of the defendants.
