Dominican Republic Sets Historic Export Record in First Half of 2026
The Dominican Republic reported a record‑high export value of US$7.897 billion for the January‑June 2026 period, a 14.8 % increase over the same half‑year in 2025 and an absolute rise of US$1.018 billion. June alone generated US$1.498 billion in exports, the highest monthly total ever recorded, up 17.4 % year‑on‑year.
Export growth was led by free‑zone shipments (US$819 million, +8 %) and the national regime (US$652 million, +35 %). The United States remained the top destination with US$683 million in June, followed by Canada (US$264 million) and Haiti (US$116 million). Key products included raw gold (US$342 million, +84 % YoY), medical instruments (US$114 million), electrical switchgear (US$89 million) and premium cigars (US$89 million). Over 700 tariff lines posted gains, highlighting a diversified export base across minerals, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, and manufactured goods.
