Dominican Republic delivers 19,000 plantain plants to Enriquillo producers

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Agriculture is strengthening agricultural production in the Enriquillo region by delivering 19,000 in vitro plantain plants to producers within the Juancho Valley Development Project (PRODEVAJ).

This initiative aims to cover approximately 5,000 tareas of land, benefiting various communities including Paraíso, Los Patos, Enriquillo, and Arroyo Dulce in Barahona, as well as Juancho, La Colonia, and Oviedo in Pedernales. The use of in vitro technology provides high-quality, uniform, and phytosanitary planting material intended to improve crop yields and farmer productivity.

In addition to the plant delivery, the Ministry is supporting PRODEVAJ through land preparation, technical assistance, and other efforts to maximize the productive potential of the Juancho Valley and stimulate the local economy.
