Dominican Republic Education Ministry hosts national reading festival and assumes control of closed Colegio Ingenium

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Education (MINERD) celebrated the third National Reading Festival, a nationwide event showcasing early‑literacy achievements of primary‑school students across the country’s 18 regional education zones. First Lady Raquel Arbaje highlighted the transformative power of reading, urging families to support children's learning, while Minister Eduardo De Camps emphasized the importance of early literacy programs such as Con Base.

In a separate move, MINERD announced it will incorporate the private Colegio Ingenium in Pantoja into the public education system to ensure continuity for its 377 enrolled students after the school’s permanent closure. The ministry is finalising inventory, administrative procedures and staff arrangements, with plans to inform parents and commence the new academic year on 24 August.
