Dominican Republic educational program promotes new Penal Code
The 'Penal Code for Citizenship' program is expanding across the Dominican Republic to educate the public on legal rights and responsibilities. Having already reached fourteen provinces, including Dajabón and Sánchez Ramírez, the initiative aims to complete nationwide coverage by December.
In Santo Domingo Norte, a specialized workshop titled 'Novedades del Nuevo Código Penal' was held to analyze changes in the new legislation. Organized by the legislative office of Deputy Ramón Raposo in collaboration with the Colegio de Abogados (CARD) and the PRD Lawyers' Front, the session targeted jurists, law students, and community leaders.
The program emphasizes that legal literacy is essential for protecting entrepreneurship and personal assets. By teaching constitutional foundations and criminal law contents, the initiative seeks to help citizens, particularly small business owners, navigate legal implications, avoid scams, and understand the limits of authority.
