Environmental organizations in the Dominican Republic are pursuing legal action to enforce climate and energy policies. The Comité Nacional de Lucha Contra el Cambio Climático and Insaproma have filed a request for judicial review with the Constitutional Court following a previous rejection of an environmental injunction by the Superior Administrative Court.

The organizations are demanding that the government adhere to constitutional mandates and specific laws, including the goal of reaching a 25% renewable energy share in the national electricity matrix by 2025 and commitments made under the Paris Agreement.

In a separate enforcement action, the Public Ministry has halted illegal construction within the Rivera del Río Jaya Ecological Park in San Francisco de Macorís. Authorities determined that the works were being conducted without environmental permits and violated the 30-meter protected margin of the Jaya River.
