Dominican Republic Expands Carbon Accreditation and Raises Grupo Estrella Credit Ratings

The Dominican Republic’s accreditation body, the Organismo Dominicano de Acreditación (ODAC), has widened the scope of its accreditation for the Fundación Centro de Innovación Atabey (CI‑Atabey). The new mandate enables the institute to verify cancellation reports under the ICAO CORSIA scheme, strengthening the nation’s capacity to meet international aviation emission‑offset requirements and reducing reliance on foreign verifiers.

Pacific Credit Rating upgraded the credit ratings of several Grupo Estrella companies. Consorcio Minero Dominicano moved from AA to AA+, Ingeniería Estrella from A+ to AA‑, both with stable outlooks, while Acero Estrella kept an A+ rating and saw its outlook shift from stable to positive. The agency cited stronger financial performance, solid liquidity, and a sustainable growth strategy across the group’s construction and mining operations.

Both developments highlight the Dominican Republic’s push to bolster its environmental credentials and attract investment through improved corporate governance and financial stability.
