Dominican Republic expands university transport program in Cibao

The Dominican government has expanded the National Opportunities Route University Transport (TURNO) program to the northern Cibao region. During an event at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in Santiago, Vice President Raquel Peña and Minister of Youth Carlos Valdez delivered 15 buses intended to assist students with transportation and reduce economic barriers to education.

Minister Valdez noted that this delivery is part of a larger phase involving 40 new units, which will join 50 previously delivered buses to create a national fleet of 90 vehicles. The program includes not only the vehicles but also provisions for drivers, insurance, and maintenance to ensure operational continuity. Vice President Peña urged students and authorities to use the service responsibly to ensure it remains a reliable resource for academic success.
