Dominican Republic to install new weather stations in Pedernales

In the Dominican Republic, the Empresa Minera Dominicana (EMIDOM) and the Instituto Dominicano de Meteorología (INDOMET) have signed an agreement to install three automatic meteorological stations in Pedernales. Located within the Reserva Fiscal Minera Ávila, these stations will monitor temperature, precipitation, and wind to strengthen early warning systems and provide data for the National Meteorological Data Bank (BANDAMET).

Weather conditions in the Dominican Republic are currently characterized by intense heat and high thermal sensations, with temperatures reaching between 34°C and 36°C. While Saharan dust and low humidity have limited rainfall in some areas, the passage of a tropical wave and a trough is expected to trigger localized heavy rains, thunderstorms, and wind gusts in several provinces, including Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, and Dajabón.

In Costa Rica, the transit of tropical wave number 40 is causing increased instability and heavy rainfall, particularly along the Caribbean coast and in Limón. The Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) is also monitoring tropical wave number 41, which may impact the region early in the week.
