Global health trends show rising neurological and mental health challenges

Global health reports highlight a rising burden of neurological and mental health conditions. The World Health Organization (WHO) identifies neurological disorders as the leading cause of disease and disability worldwide, affecting more than one in three people. Common conditions include stroke, migraines, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and diabetic neuropathy.

In the realm of mental health, over one billion people globally live with a mental disorder. In the Dominican Republic, experts emphasize the need to reduce medication costs, expand social security coverage, and combat social stigma.

Simultaneously, there is a growing trend toward home care and the integration of health products into daily household consumption. The WHO estimates that over 2.5 billion people require assistive products to maintain independence. Research from PwC and Essity indicates that hygiene and preventative health items are increasingly becoming essential components of the family basket as care shifts from clinical settings to the home.
