Dominican Republic government clarifies medical support for Berlín de León

The Dominican Republic government has clarified the extent of the support offered to Berlín de León Castro and her mother, Karina Castro, regarding the child's health situation. Through the Office of the First Lady and the Ministry of Administrative Affairs of the Presidency, the state has committed to covering transportation, lodging, medical consultations, and specialized studies once a humanitarian visa is obtained.

Authorities have recommended that Berlín be evaluated at Hospital Sírio-Libanês in Brazil due to its expertise in complex cases. However, the government noted that the mother has not yet accepted this recommendation, and officials stated they will respect her decision.

The government specified that while it will fund the diagnostic phase, the coverage of any subsequent treatment will be determined at a later stage and is not part of the current commitment.
