Dominican Republic health ministry reports 49% maturity in Cibao Sur integrated health network
The Dominican Republic Ministry of Public Health presented the results of an assessment of the maturity of the Integrated Health Service Networks (RISS) in the Cibao Sur region, which includes the provinces of La Vega, Monseñor Nouel and Sánchez Ramírez. The evaluation, carried out with technical and financial support from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization, found that the network has reached a 49 % overall development level, with a 56 % score for territorial organization of care.
Minister of Health Víctor Atallah reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to improve coordination among health system actors and to build a more efficient, integrated service network. PAHO/WHO interim representative Bernardino Vitóy highlighted the assessment as a tool to identify strengths and areas for improvement, noting challenges in integrated resource management, governance and sustainable financing. The process included 61 user surveys and a workshop attended by 78 representatives from the national health system, including the Ministry, the National Health Service, PROMESE/CAL, Sisalril, the National Social Security Council and other ministries.
