Dominican Republic health service appoints new hospital director and launches $1 billion renovation

The Dominican Republic's Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS) executive director, Dr. Julio Landrón, swore in Dr. Erimar Grullón as the new director of Hospital Provincial Toribio Bencosme in Moca. Dr. Grullón, a hematology specialist with a decade of experience and academic ties to the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, pledged to improve service quality and transparency.

In a separate ceremony, Dr. Landrón inaugurated the first phase of a nearly one‑billion‑peso renovation of Hospital Salvador B. Gautier. The project, part of President Luis Abinader’s commitment to modernize the public health network, will add a new emergency area with over 30 equipped beds, a trauma‑shock unit, upgraded imaging and laboratory facilities, and two additional operating rooms, while keeping the hospital operational throughout the works.
