Dominican Republic hosts U10 Baseball Classic, adds new softball rule

An opening ceremony was held in Guerra, Dominican Republic, to launch the WORGBEV International Baseball Classic U10, a youth tournament scheduled for 22‑29 July 2026 at the Pimentel Complex. Delegations from six countries attended, and the event included a tribute to victims of the recent Venezuela earthquake. The tournament aims to foster international friendship, values education and offers hundreds of children a chance to compete.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation for the Americas announced a new rule for the softball competition at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026. Starting this Sunday, base runners may leave the base as soon as the pitcher’s non‑pivot foot contacts the ground. The change is supported by video‑review technology, allowing each team one review per game and additional reviews in extra innings. Officials may also initiate reviews from the fifth inning onward. The rule is intended to speed up play and improve decision accuracy.
