Dominican Republic oversight: 337 public rental properties inspected

The Contraloría General de la República (CGR) has completed a technical inspection of 337 properties related to public institution rental contracts between March and August 2026. Of these, 328 received authorization. The oversight process involves contracts totaling over RD$2,011.9 million and US$33.5 million. Comptroller General Geraldo Espinosa stated that the inspections ensure properties meet real institutional needs and technical requirements before contracts are finalized or renewed.

In a separate effort to optimize state spending, the Directorate of National Assets (Bienes Nacionales) is preparing to recover 24 buildings to reduce the government's annual rental expenditure, which currently ranges between RD$10,000 and RD$12,000 million. Director Rafael Burgos Gómez indicated that an investment of RD$762 million will be used to intervene in 24 priority buildings, part of a broader plan involving 64 state structures. This initiative aims to save the state approximately RD$8,000 million annually by concentrating institutions in rehabilitated public buildings.

Additionally, INFOTEP and the Health Journalists Circle (CIPESA) have certified 65 professionals in a Strategic Health Communication diploma to improve the quality and ethics of public health reporting.
