Dominican Republic inaugurates IX National Theater Festival

The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Culture has launched the IX National Theater Festival (FENATE 2026). Under the slogan “El teatro llega a ti” (Theater comes to you), the event features 31 shows and 71 performances scheduled to run until November 1.

This edition is dedicated to actress Olga Bucarelli in recognition of her career and contributions to national theater. The festival includes a diverse program of plays such as “El beso de la mujer araña,” “Las sillas,” and “Esperando a Odiseo,” catering to children, youth, and adults.

Performances will take place at various venues, including the Eduardo Brito National Theater, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Casa de Teatro, as well as in provinces such as Santiago de los Caballeros, Puerto Plata, and Espaillat. The initiative aims to expand access to theatrical productions by bringing performances to both traditional stages and non-conventional community spaces.
