Dominican Republic initiates consultations for National Human Rights System

The Center for Research for Women's Action (CIPAF) participated in the first round of consultations organized by the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Justice to develop and validate the regulations for the National Human Rights System.

The initiative aims to establish an institutional framework to coordinate human rights public policies through the involvement of civil society organizations, social movements, and representatives of vulnerable populations. Syra Taveras, executive director of CIPAF, emphasized the necessity of this system to bridge the gap between recognized rights and the lived realities of many citizens. She advocated for an open, plural dialogue based on international standards and the principles of universality and non-regression.

During the session, participants presented observations and recommendations regarding the proposed regulations. The meeting included the participation of Minister of Justice Antoliano Peralta Romero, who highlighted the importance of incorporating civil society experiences into the system's construction.
