Dominican Republic Judiciary uses AI to cut traffic fine processing time by 86%

The Dominican Republic's Judiciary has reduced the processing time for traffic fine expiration requests by 86%, cutting the duration from 21 days to just three. This was achieved through a digital transformation initiative utilizing interoperability, automation, and artificial intelligence.

Originally launched as a pilot program in the National District Traffic Court, the tool has expanded to a national scale. The technology automates the integration and consultation of requests, which reduces manual tasks and operational burdens without replacing the decision-making authority or responsibilities of judges.

Since its implementation in August 2024, the tool has generated 24,806 documents out of a total of 60,348. Statistics indicate that 41% of all documents processed have been produced by the AI, demonstrating significant adoption and improving the organization and traceability of judicial information.
