Dominican Republic launches coconut summit and ecotourism project

The Dominican Republic is seeing new developments in both the agricultural and tourism sectors. RAAS Sistemas de Riego hosted DominiCoco, the country’s first Coconut Summit, in Santo Domingo. The event aimed to promote innovation, sustainability, and efficient resource use across the coconut value chain, covering aspects from agronomic management to industrialization and export. International experts participated to discuss topics such as water management, genetics, and technological solutions for processing coconut water.

In the Monseñor Nouel province, the Cacao Green Ecoluxury project has been launched as a new socioeconomic driver. This ecotourism and real estate development spans 670,000 square meters within the Cibao Sur Ecological Corridor. The multi-phase project includes residential villas, a condo-hotel, commercial areas, and ecological amenities like hiking trails and a protected park. Banco de Reservas has expressed financial commitment to the initiative, which is expected to generate employment and attract investment to local communities.
