Dominican Republic launches Juan Luis Guerra biography highlighting his faith journey
The Dominican edition of the book "Juan Luis Guerra, compromiso y poesía" was launched on Thursday, 6 August, at the Aída Cartagena Portalatín hall of the Biblioteca Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo. The event was announced by writer and economist Euri Cabral and organized by Grupo Editorial Sial Pigmalion, which also handled the book’s international release.
The publication, described by Basilio Rodríguez, president of Grupo Editorial Sial Pigmalion, as a blend of history, cultural essay and spiritual reflection, explores Guerra’s musical legacy, his contributions to Dominican identity and his personal conversion to Christianity. Cabral noted that the book portrays how the celebrated artist chose to “slow down, seek the essence of life and embrace faith,” overcoming the temptations of fame.
The Dominican edition follows the first international edition launched in April at the Bogotá Book Fair and presented later in June at the Madrid Book Fair. The launch invites fans and the general public to reflect on Guerra’s artistic and spiritual journey.
