Dominican Republic military recruitment shows low female admission rates

Women continue to represent a small minority in the recruitment processes of the Dominican Republic's armed forces, despite holding important positions within the military structure.

Data from the Army and Air Force indicate that while women participate in recruitment, admission rates remain low. In 2024, the Army evaluated 384 women, but only 50 were admitted, representing a 13% success rate for female applicants. Of the 1,540 total admissions reported by the Army that year, women accounted for only approximately 3.2%.

Preliminary data for 2025 shows 50 women were admitted out of 260 evaluated, representing roughly 6% of the 837 total admissions for that period. The reports also noted a statistical inconsistency in the 2025 rejection data provided by the Army that requires clarification.
