Dominican Republic Ministry of Health delivers 421 refrigerators for vaccines
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Health has delivered 421 refrigerators to the National Health Service (SNS) to strengthen the cold chain for the national immunization program. The investment for these units exceeds one million dollars.
Minister of Health Víctor Atallah stated that the equipment is designed to ensure vaccine quality, safety, and effectiveness from the point of purchase to administration. A key feature of the new refrigerators is their ability to maintain cold temperatures for up to 54 hours without an electrical supply, providing a safeguard against power outages.
To ensure continuous oversight, the Ministry utilizes a Remote Temperature Monitoring (RTM) system. This system allows for real-time supervision of temperature conditions across 40 collection centers within Provincial Health Directorates and Health Areas (DPS-DAS), as well as various vaccination posts.
