Dominican Republic Miss Universe 2026 pageant clarifies tribute and launches autism park

Designer Leonel Lirio said he did not organize or personally honor former director Magali Febles during the Miss República Dominicana Universo 2026 gala. He explained he was asked at the last minute to present a plaque, and the recognition was arranged by the pageant staff, not by him.

Crowned Miss República Dominicana Universo 2026, Melissa Núñez emphasized the competition’s inclusive policies, noting that age, marital status or motherhood are no longer criteria for participation. She announced a new autism‑focused park in La Vega, developed with Casa del Autismo and pageant officials, and highlighted the historic return of the crown to the province after more than a decade.
