Dominican Republic parties PLD convenes assembly; PRM official Rigoberto Reyes detained over health issues

The Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) announced a closed‑door assembly for its leaders on 29 July at the Gran Salón Bienvenido Sandoval. The meeting will brief delegates on the upcoming second national day of concentrated efforts scheduled for 8 August and outline preparations for the presidential aspirants’ consultation (Conap‑2026) slated for 18 October.

Rigoberto Reyes, the national technical head of the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) and CEO of La Voz del PRM, was reported to be confined in the Cedimat prison. Authorities cited severe health complications, including high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney failure, while awaiting further medical assessments.
