Dominican Republic police seize 1.7 kg cocaine in Santo Domingo drug bust
The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and the Public Ministry carried out five raids in Santo Domingo’s Distrito Nacional, arresting six suspects linked to micro‑trafficking. Among those detained were Freddy Candelario Durán, known as “La Vikiana,” and Yeshua Gallardo, known as “Los Moya.”
Authorities confiscated 1,485 g of suspected cocaine, 242 g of marijuana, 77 doses of a crack‑like substance, three balances, a motorcycle and cash. The operations spanned neighborhoods including San Carlos, El Invi, Gualey, La Yagüita de los Ríos, Los Kilómetros, Cristo Rey and La Puya. Officials said the raids are part of a strategy to combat drug sales, recover public spaces and curb violence associated with micro‑trafficking.
