Dominican Republic police dismantle record‑size marijuana plantation in San José de Ocoa

Authorities in the Dominican Republic’s San José de Ocoa province seized a marijuana plantation weighing more than 13,800 lb (13 863 lb), the largest ever recorded in the country. The operation, carried out by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) with forensic and custody experts, followed earlier intelligence work that had already broken up a 3,000‑plant operation in the same area. Over 10 people, including Dominicans and Haitians, have been questioned, and the seizure is part of a broader effort that has eliminated more than 18 000 plants.

In Argentina, several police operations targeted drug trafficking and micro‑trafficking. A routine vehicle stop in Comodoro Rivadavia led to the seizure of 24.3 g of cannabis from three men. In Rosario and Pueblo Esther, ten raids resulted in the confiscation of cocaine, marijuana, cash, phones and equipment, and four arrests. Similar raids in Las Lajitas, Casilda and Concordia uncovered cannabis, cocaine and illegal firearms, leading to multiple detentions. A large anti‑drug sweep in Santiago seized 8.78 kg of narcotics and arrested 28 people.

Separately, the Dominican Public Ministry and police destroyed a clandestine alcohol‑making operation in Azua, seizing 2 145 gal of illicit “clerén” and “tapa floja”. A Santo Domingo court also handed down a 15‑year prison term to three men convicted of trafficking more than 100 kg of cocaine to the United States and Europe.

Other law‑enforcement actions included the apprehension of a motorcycle‑theft suspect in Rosario and a raid on a home in Maipú, Chile, where five people were detained and stolen vehicles, firearms and other goods were recovered.
