Dominican Republic police stations face service and infrastructure issues

Citizens in the Dominican Republic are reporting significant operational difficulties and poor service at various National Police stations. In Los Manantiales, residents have highlighted a lack of adequate waiting areas, forcing people to wait outside in the sun. Beyond physical infrastructure, citizens have criticized the lack of guidance regarding legal procedures, noting that they often spend entire days at stations without knowing how to proceed or who to contact.

In other areas of Santo Domingo, such as Capotillo, Las Lilas, and Los Mina, service disruptions are being caused by power outages, lack of internet connectivity, and personnel shortages. These issues have forced citizens to travel between multiple stations to file reports for lost documents or stolen property. In some instances, procedures could not be completed because the specific officers responsible for certain tasks were on medical leave without being replaced, or because certain releases required the presence of a specific commander.
