Dominican Republic political movements unveil election strategies

Engineer Alberto Holguín, representing the Objetivo 28 movement, announced a nationwide tour to rally support for a unified political platform ahead of the 2028 elections. He said the initiative aims to unite parties, social movements and independent citizens, combat clientelism, professionalise public‑sector hiring and build a coalition that challenges the traditional parties. Holguín also noted that the Avalancha group has joined Objetivo 28, expanding its grassroots base.

The Renovación Codiana (RC) movement presented a manifesto urging engineers, architects and surveyors belonging to the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA) to vote for its reform agenda in the upcoming internal elections on 17 July. RC criticises a perceived loss of institutional integrity, proposes a minimum‑wage law for professionals, a stronger CODIA social security institute, recovery of the CODIA cooperative, and greater transparency in resource management, while alleging voting irregularities by the electoral commission.
