Dominican Republic prepares for 2026-2027 school year with new classrooms and supplies

The Dominican Republic is preparing for the 2026-2027 school year through significant investments in infrastructure and student resources. The Ministry of Education's School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE) has completed dozens of new classrooms across San Cristóbal, including the municipalities of Cambita, Villa Altagracia, and Haina, as part of the national “Aulas 24/7-365” plan.

In parallel, the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) has distributed 744,489 school kits across various provinces, including the Distrito Nacional, Santo Domingo, and Santiago. The program aims to benefit over 1.8 million students by providing free essential supplies and uniforms, which is estimated to save families between RD$3,864 and RD$5,433 per student.
