Dominican Republic PRM urges dialogue and outlines party leadership transition

PRM agribusiness leader Eulalio Ramírez called on agricultural unions and government officials to prioritize dialogue to avert a protest planned by the National Association of Agronomists. He urged the agriculture minister and ANPA leadership to find a consensual solution for the pension demands of more than a thousand senior agronomists and called for increased PRM representation in public institutions, citing sector growth such as a rise in agricultural output, exports and a reduction in hunger and poverty.

Party president José Ignacio Paliza said the PRM’s upcoming national convention will aim for a unified leadership slate, proposing President Luis Abinader as the party’s future head and outlining a vice‑president role to support party coordination. Paliza highlighted plans for a respectful 2027 presidential nomination process, emphasized internal competition, and expressed confidence that the PRM will present a strong electoral ticket in forthcoming elections.
