Dominican Republic promotes Dajabón as cultural‑ecotourism hub at DAJAPÓN Fest 2026

The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) organized a familiarisation tour of the border province of Dajabón during the DAJAPÓN Fest 2026. The trip brought together content creators and tourism promoters to showcase the area’s historic sites – such as the Battle of Beller monument and the Loma de Cabrera town where the 1863 Grito de Capotillo was raised – as well as its natural attractions and the Japanese‑heritage community that has lived there for seven decades.

Participants were introduced to local accommodation options, notably the eco‑lodge El Cha Cha Hotel (Villas CODEVI), and to the province’s distinctive cuisine that blends Dominican criollo dishes with Japanese influences, featuring goat‑based specialties at venues like Café Beller, Layabón Restaurante and Kiosko Café. The itinerary also included a visit to the binational market that serves the frontier trade zone. The initiative is part of MITUR’s strategy to position Dajabón as a premier internal‑tourism and cultural destination.
